“TJ, let us put an end to this battle once and for all.” TJ nodded. He augmented Peorth’s weapon and casted Radiance on Su temporarily releasing her from where she was bound, and she stumbled forth. Peorth quickly dashed towards Choen Palm blocking her shots with her spear and closing the distance thrusting her spear into her chest. Peorth pulled it out, shoved it in two more times then spun it around like a windmill and slamming it down on her releasing a small burst of light. Choen Palm held out her hand in an attempt to create a black hole spell but Peorth silenced her and continued attacking mercilessly, slashing her and finally impaling her once more, throwing her over her head and plunging her spear into the ground as she said, “Field of Blades!” Spears shot up from the ground and impaled Choen Palm, and began to release as TJ and Su both said, “Two Hundred Arrows of Light!” The spells followed up one after the next constantly launching Choen Palm in each and every direction.
Su began chanting as the spells continued and TJ started a separate chant. “Now is the time! Seal Choen Palm away once and for all!” Peorth shouted. Su raised both hands in the air and shouted, “Thor’s Invoked Wrath!” Massive thunder bolts crashed down and singed Choen Palm and continued to rain down as TJ’s chanting continued and Su sustained the spell. Finally TJ stopped chanting and held his hands out, over the edge of the bridge and said, “Upon my will I call you forth. To return light to this world so this may someday become a paradise, this sacrifice I offer. Testament of the Hero!” Su ended the spell as TJ leapt upwards, jumped once more and grabbed Choen Palm descending downwards into a deadly spiral towards a seal emitting bright lights all the way at the bottom of the Laboratory. “You and I will be sealed away permanently, so you’ll never escape and take over this world!” TJ shouted as they shot downwards.
“You idiotic boy! Let go of me this instant! You must be mad to seal yourself away along with me!” Choen Palm shouted as she struggled to break free but could not. Su looked mortified and quickly leapt downwards after the two. “TJ! STOP! DON’T SEAL YOURSELF AWAY WITH HER!” She shouted but proved to be of no use. The three quickly descended and soon approached the spell, and Su knew she had to do something. She took the wings from TJ and pushed herself as hard as she could downwards towards the two and soon was able to catch up and surpass them. “Su?!” TJ shouted taking his focus off of Choen Palm for a few moments. Su landed on a nearby platform, leapt off and collided with the two sending them off course from the spell. Choen Palm managed to get her good arm free and started punching TJ as hard as she could in the ribs until he would loosen his grip.
TJ refused to let go and tightly held on trying to pull her back towards the spell but did not succeed in his attempts. Choen Palm continued to punch him and the pain became excruciating, until a loud crack sounded through his body and TJ let go, the two quickly falling to the ground. Su returned the wings to TJ as he was about to make contact with the ground and landed with a painful thud, tumbling across it. Choen Palm landed flat on her but still managed to stand. She looked at TJ for a few moments but just shrugged and teleported away. “I was...so...close...” TJ whispered watching as his spell faded away and his vision became blurry. Blood slowly seeped from his mouth as he closed his eyes and coughed weakly. Su eventually landed down beside him and looked upon his body as she whispered, “sorry TJ. But there’s so much more to this than you understand.”
Epilogue: A Lullaby for the Cerebian Hero
TJ had been unconscious since the battle with Choen Palm, and weeks had already passed since then. Peorth turned down Verun’s offer to celebrate Yggdrasil’s mission because she felt that it would lower the morale of Yggdrasil’s members and make them feel down again, like they had from the aftermath of the battle. Peorth had Kooh take TJ to a nearby hospital while the rest of the guild who still had energy handled the remaining missions and returned to where they were meant to go. Those who had the time and were in Elias would occasionally come and visit TJ in his hospital bed as he rested quietly, leaving flowers, get-well cards and other small gifts.
Peorth seemed to had taken the blow the hardest. She had blamed herself constantly, saying it was her lack of leadership and her decision not to tell TJ everything. Though TJ only had a few broken and a minor bit of mana poisoning, Peorth was still worried. She did not speak to the members much, and everyone seemed a bit inactive. Since the incident no one had seen Su either. It became difficult to tell whether she had chosen to stay hidden or she could not leave the crystal because of TJ’s concussion.
Choen Palm’s whereabouts were unknown, but some of Yggdrasil’s members stayed on the lookout for her, and any information that may lead to her whereabouts. The matter itself, of her escape was hushed up and those who did mention it were often said not to mention anything of it again if they were over heard, if they were to be seen again. Since the battle an uneasy air was about everyone. Nobody smiled, joked, or laughed, or even dared try to be cheery from pure fear of being scorned. Time felt as if it was passing slowly; days, weeks, even months went by but TJ showed no sign of waking up. Some of Yggdrasil’s members seemed to be lightening up though, trying to improve the overall mood of the place and bring back hope to those who had lost it.
The doctors and nurses often checked up on TJ but none were too sure why he had not woken up. All of them were completely puzzled by the phenomenon and requested that specialists come in to check the situation for themselves. What really puzzled them most is how he would occasionally give off a dark mana and mutter words none could understand in a demonic voice. Late one night Amu came to see TJ, where most of the doctors or other staff got scared off by the unusual way TJ acted. She stayed and looked after him, occasionally brushing his hair out of his face and gently singing to him when he started to thrash and heavily breathe while emitting his evil aura.
She looked at him in a melancholic way and said, “You’ve been through a lot haven’t you TJ? It is quite a sad life you live...you’re constantly being pushed and always having to move forward. What you’ve faced isn’t even the end...but someday you’ll be free of all of this, and Su will too. I know when you find out the truth you’ll forgive her for what happened then. Not that you’d be mad anyway.” She laughed. TJ started to give off his evil aura and Amu started to sing for him once more, calming him down and stopping him. She looked out the window to the waning moon as she sung,
“...I will always be by your side so you are never lonely, my angel, my absolute, my one, my only...”
